Stokes Bay Open 14/15 April

Stokes Bay Open is on for 14/15 Apr.

NOR and SIs will be posted when they are ready, but I am sure it will be similar to last year - sun, breeze and neap (but still challenging) tides.

Camping in compound is fine, but we are sharing with the B14s so it will probably be noisy.

Car Parking will be in the Pay and Display (or local residential roads).

Saturday evening will feature some excellent entertainments. I regret to inform you that by popular demand 'Musto Sniff' will not be back. In its place will be some form of rodeo and jodhpurs are encouraged, bring your girlfriend (or boyfriend - we are neither sexist nor homophobic).

More details as they emerge.

Plans are coming together for the Stokes Bay Open.

Camping available inside the club compund.

Sat

3 races in perfect conditions.
Food will be available around 6 pm, there will be BUcking Bronco at 7pm and a quiz about 8pm.
At some point we will have a Mount Gay Rum Happy Hour.

Sun
First race will prob be 1030. 3 races and away by early afternoon.

If you have any quesions put them up here and I will try and answer or ring the club administrator... Debbie on 023 9258 1513

The forecast is looking good:

10 kts NE - Sat
17 kts NE - Sun

NE is offshore at Stokes Bay so should provide easy launching, win across tide conditions with enough shifts to make the lake sailors feel at home. If the water wasn't salty and tidal (see below) it could be the Inlands.

Tides
Sat
HT 0547 (BST) 3.8
LT 1130 1.7
HT 1850 3.9

In the Solent the tidal stream does not turn at High Tide and Low Tide...
Tide will be flowing East at 1130 and will continue get stronger (max tidal stream at about 1500. Tide will start to turm about 1630-1730 (when we will probably be off the water).

Sunday
HT 0717 3.7
LT 1253 1.7

Tide will be flowing West at 0900.
Tide will be starting to turn at 1030 (turns first at the edges), by 1130 it will have turned in the main channel and will go East for the rest of the day.

Dan, are we doing 8 races then? Or 4 in the first day and 2 on Sunday?

Hi all
Russ Clark has confirmed he will be doing the training the week after on the Saturday 21 and we will be training or joining in with the races on Sunday 22, you can leave your boats at Stokes Bay if you like between the events.
If we get the same number as last year then cost should be low, also the water fees are only £10 for the weekend to sail from Stokes Bay for 21/22 April.
Thanks Chris
