MPSCA Committee
Structure Revisions
As the class continues to grow and develop
throughout the world the time has come to make some
minor revisions to the structure of the committee.
The class was an international development
back in 1999 with the input from many sailors around
Europe but it was in the UK where the class first started
to grow in major numbers and the UK was the first country
to properly establish a class association.
As the class grew the association (staffed
with UK sailors) took and international outlook and
developed the class and supported the owners world wide.
Over time the larger countries established
their own national associations; but the UK continued
to be administered by the international association.
This was a practical solution and minimised
the bureaucracy that stops people getting things done.
Due to continued growth and development
in more & more nations the time has come to re-organise
the association slightly the give the
international committee a clear international remit
and to remove the UK functions to their own national
association. This will also remove any UK bias (not
that there was any) from the international committee
which is now chaired by Iver Ahlmann from Germany.
This means we welcome well know UK sailor
Jon Simpson into the committee as the GBR rep and chair
of the GBR
committee.
We think this makes sense and really is
minor adjustments on an already functioning model.
The
International Committee listed here >>>
The role of the international
committee will be to:
- Schedule and manage the International
Events (Worlds & Europeans)
- Co-ordinate with the national associations events
calander to schedule a Euro Cup Series
- Collect & manage class subs (note that GER &
SUI collect locally)
- Manage and support the class website (.com)
- Issue class eNews letters (world wide)
- Maintain class rules
- Evolve and develop the specification of the boat
- Manage the relationship with ISAF
- Issue once a year a class on-line survey
- Develop materials for class PR
- Manage the relationship with the class builder Ovington
Boats
- Manage the relationships with the class sponsors (Musto,
Ovington Boats, Harken, Selden, Hyde & Noble)
- Collaborate with the regions to develop the class
to the benefit of the members
- Plus everything else that needs to be done & doesn't
get done by the regions
There will be a number of member national
class associations:
Each
National Association will have a chairman* and they
are listed here >>>
The role of each national association
will be to:
- Organise events in their own country,
training & racing including their own national championships
- Represent the views of their local members to the
international committee
- Run any local language promotion of the class inc.
websites**, shows & interface with local media.
* For the smaller countries the role is more of a rep
rather than a chairman as they will likely be a national
committee of one.
**It is expected for the English speaking
nations that no local website will be necessary as the
.com site covers their needs. Plus the international
committee will look after GBR media
This really is pretty much as it is but
separates off the GBR a bit giving them the autonomy
to manage and develop their own events and will not
lead to the UK Nationals being discussed at the worlds
again ... thanks Jon Simpson for taking over the GBR
role and thanks to Ian Renilson who has held the role
previously.
