MUSTO SKIFF NOR EUROCUP 2017
Venue : Kristiansand
Date :25th – 27th August
Now it has been a few weeks since we had the Euro cup in Norway.
We had three amazing days where we had different wind conditions, but in the whole one happy event. Five Mustoskiffer took part. All sailed at one time, but not more than two sailed all races. Geir Odmar Heldal in NOR 463 won with a steady series, but Erik Børresen in NOR 575 gave fight all the way to the doorstep.
On Friday it was nice wind Erik was superior in two out of three, but Geir Odmar took the rest of the series. Saturday and Sunday it was nice steadily 2-7 m/s breeze, with good racing and there was a lot of overtaking during the races. No one was really supreme during racing.
After a decision about having a three days’ event instead of two, we ended up with start Friday afternoon. After the ferries from Denmark had come and we made sure to finish in good time on Sunday so voyages down could be reached. Those we spoke with when in Germany/England sailing, have said that they are very happy for three days’ events. We got good feedback when we launched the idea of three days, from those who had opportunities to reach a weekend in Norway. This at the same time as we were almost the only Euro cup in North Europe in the year we had expected a little better support.
In Norway we have the possibility to have nice winds and light until about 10 pm in August, so starting at 6 pm, we will have two-three hours of nice wind and good weather to create some good regattas.
