Musto Performance Skiff

Walensee Regatta Report 24-25 Sep :: SUI Bookmark and Share

24-25 Sept was the second installment of the SwissCup at Walensee, SE of Zurich it enjoys thermal breeze.

The events attracted 14 Musto sailors from Switzerland and Germany plus great local hospitality by Nic.

The thermal breeze kicked-in a bit late and racing got underway in force 2-4. Frithjof took the lead on the first day with three bullets, Bernd Jahn always well placed and Simon Kerscher sailing fast took a win each. Tactics were a mixed bag, the left side of the course failed to pay as usual so sailors worked their way up the cliffs to the right. The fleet finished 5 races, just as the breeze dropped away during the 5th.

Ashore was a medley of cake and pies for John’s birthday followed by the tri-annual, this doesn’t come around very often folks, Muehlehorn festival. John’s stick-on beard and party hat definitely stuck-out in a somewhat remote Swiss village…

Sunday’s thermals delivered on the promise for two fully powered-up races, back to normal tactics of hit the left until a big header then tack for the mark.

Frithhoj stayed ahead to take the win followed by Bernd and Roger on the podium. Thanks to the organisers for an excellent regatta, back next year for the third instalment we hope!
