Dynamics of the
German Class
 Lots
of activity in Germany in the last few weeks:
At the birthplace of the Musto Skiff,
the Hanseboot Boatshow in Hamburg, there was very big
interest in the fast growing class with over 40 sailors
registered for test sails.
To promote the class more widely, a 15min
presentation of the class was held by the national and
international Chairmen on a big stage during 7 out of
9 days
 .

German online magazine Segelreporter.com
has also just produced quite a detailed review of the
class and its growth in the country (German only).
 On
26th of Oktober, the management/organisation team of
4 clubs under the lead of some of our German sailor’s
home club, Kiel Yacht Club, has officially admitted
the Musto Performance Skiff for the 2011 Kiel Week.

The online class survey contained a question on Kiel
Week participation and there has been a real positive
surprise: 28 said they would come and there were an
additional 43 maybes! Experience shows that the survey
numbers are normally conservative, so we should expect
a very considerable fleet at Kiel in 2011.
Kiel Week for the non-Olympic classes (including Musto
Skiff) will be Thursday 23rd June - Sunday 26th June.
This gives the option to sailors from Olympic classes
which are racing at Kiel Week 18th – 22nd June to stay
and race in the MPS class.
Thankfully, to put together a great social programme
and help break the language barrier, two volunteers
have stood up: Catharina Gauda will be dealing with
the socials. And our British, Kiel resident Musto Skiff
sailor Andrew Bellamy has offered to put together a
"Brits Guide to Kieler Woche"!
Furthermore, there is also the possibility
of charter boats from German dealer Holger Jess.
