The Musto Skiff Class Association and
Ovington Boats are delighted to announce that Velocitek
have stepped up as the title sponsor of the 2007 Musto
Skiff World Championships to be held at Lake Garda in
June.
Velocitek design, manufacture and market
innovative GPS products specifically for the sailing
market.
The Notice of Race for the event has been
written such that competitors will be permitted to use
GPS equipment during the event.
As part of their support for the event,
which will include some great prizes, Velocitek will
also support the event through some loan S10 GPS units
which will be used to provide post race analysis of
the performance of various sailors within the fleet.
MPSCA Chairman Paul Clarke said “We are
delighted to welcome Velocitek on board as the title
sponsor of our first world championships, following
our recognition by ISAF as a recognised class. Their
products are high-tech and speed orientated and as such
are a good fit with the Musto Skiff ethos …”
As well as the usual points racing that
will of course decide the world championships there
will also be a Vmax competition with a Velocitek unit
as first prize; with the expected Garda conditions we
hope to see some eye-popping top speeds.
Tony Arends, Velocitek Sales Director
said “Our products have been a big success with many
people at the top of various sail sports. The Musto
Skiff class is an obvious choice for us as a partner
class, the boats are great to watch and sail at a range
of angles downwind which makes the VMG feature on our
products really useful. I expect the sailors will learn
a lot from the post race analysis using the Velocitek
products”
The event is all set to be a huge success and the support
of Velocitek can only add to that.

Winning
in the Italian lakes - by Mark Rushall Sun,
wind, good food, food wine, and a great atmosphere.
Many UK and International classes include a visit to
one of the lakes in their fixture list, and those who
haven’t yet tried it are missing out on a fantastic
experience. Most first time visitors will be sailing
from Torbole or Riva on Lake Garda, or Gravedona on
Lake Como. Since similar principles apply at many other
mountainous lake venues, we will focus on these venues.

Charter Boats
If you would like to attend the 2007 World Championships
but don't want to fly your boat half way around the
world, or perhaps you don't won a Musto Skiff but would
like to attend the event then you are in luck as there
will be a number of charter boats available.
Also - if you own a Musto Skiff and can't
attend the World Championships this is an opportunity
to help a fellow sailor and make a bit of money by chartering
your boat out to an overseas sailor.
If you are interested in using a charter
boat or loaning out your boat for charter then please
contact
Ovington Boats

Flights
If we all plan to arrive in Italy at similar
times (same airports) this will make it easier to share
transfers to the lake. Below is the flight that a number
of UK sailors have booked.
Please email with the details of other
suitable flights rick@mustoskiff.com
and I will share the details here.
