Training at Whitstable Yacht Club
The
4th training event to be held this year by the MPSCA
took place over Easter at Whitstable. The investment
by the class in training up coaches has resulted in
good training kicking the season off all over the UK
with now 52 people attending training events.
This training was run free of charge to
the attendees ...
The light wind weather forecast did not
deter 15 MPS sailors from attending Whitstable Yacht
Club for early season training.
The Saturday started with a boat set up
session and took the sailors through the set up and
use of the key controls in a range of conditions. The
two coaches (Simon Reynolds & Rick Perkins) then
went through the boats of each sailors as a check.
By this time there was just enough wind
and the fleet went through some boat handling exercises
followed by participation in the club race.

On
the Sunday it was again very light so we team took the
group through a detailed boat tuning exercise and also
looked at a number of the key bimbles that are detailed
in the "Pimp my Skiff" section on the website.
We then took an early lunch; followed
by getting on the water for some more light weather
training.
Lets hope the sun stays but the wind increases
for the open at Felpham next weekend.
Thanks to Whitstable Yacht Club for making
the facilities available to the visitors and Tatiana
Samus who took these photos ...
