Musto Skiff Gold
Cup, part of Travemunder Woche – 24-29 July 2006

We are now just a few months away from the Musto Skiff
Gold Cup to be held as part of the world famous Travemunder
Woche. Travemunder Woche for those who don't know is
a huge event; a real festival of small boat sailing
the like of which is not seen in many places.
This year the event will run over 36 classes
including the 9er fleets, 18' Skiffs, AC, IC and the
usual Olympic classes. The Tornado Europeans forms part
of the event.
For those who have never experienced the
excitement of a large European event that is usually
the preserve of the Olympic classes this a unique opportunity
to participate in a real festival of small boat sailing.
This is also a fantastic opportunity for
us as a class to show off our class to many others;
lets make sure we put out a strong fleet.
The racing starts on Wednesday and it
is planned to precede that with training on Monday and
Tuesday.
In previous years the class association
has funded a professional coach to run these training
sessions and we are again prepared to do that as long
as we get a significant number of non-British sailors
to sign up for the training.
The reason for this is that it is costly
to get the coach to travel to the event and if the majority
of the people attending the training are British then
it is better to run that training event in the UK.
The association is looking for the focus
of the training to be for the non-UK sailors but we
need an indication from those who plan to attend so
we can see how many people there are who would like
to participate in the training.
There will be training whatever happens
but to warrant the expense of a pro-coach we need at
least 15 non-UK based sailors to sign up for the coaching;
this needs to be done by June 16th. Please email sales@mustoskiff.com
if you plan to attend.
If there are less than 15 then we'll run
coaching lead by the top sailors in the fleet. More
than 15 and it's a pro-coach to work with the top sailors:

book now so we can get the coach on site >>>
The racing will start on Wednesday and
run to Saturday; this gives us all a chance to travel
home on the Sunday.
Entries are now being taken and the best
way to enter is via the Travemunder Woche website; when
you enter on-line you also get an opportunity to book
camping on-site. As has been mentioned above the event
is huge and the camping can get very busy. Help the
organisers and help yourself by getting your entry in
early.

When you enter on-line you will go through
to a confirmation page but don't worry if you don't
get a confirmation email, I didn't. But you will see
Travemunder Woche appear on your credit card bill so
that serves as a secondary confirmation.
This year we have a number of events sponsors
that will allow us to run a number of "in-fleet"
competitions.
There will be;
- A silver fleet that excludes the hot-shots
- Buddy competition
- Daily prizes (that you can only win once so they filter
down the fleet)
- Free prize giving dinner sponsored by Selden
Prizes
have been sponsored by GreatKit.com,
Gerber, Harken, Selden, Hyde and Musto.
Prior to the event we will be running
a lottery to win a Hyde mainsail.
With so much going on we look set for
a great event so please help us to plan through entering
early and letting us know if you'd like to attend the
training so we can book the coach.
regards,
MPSCA.
