Musto
Skiffs in Paradise (21./23.8.2006)
A strong field of 17 boats from 4 nations
met for the MPS in Paradise premiere Silvaplanasee (StMoritz,
Switzerland, altitude 1856m)
The first two days were dictated by the
light winds. One day two we managed to get in one race,
after two abandonments. Urs Schurrer started well, but
in such light mountain air conditions, there were many
place changes. Martin Mayrhofer managed to take the
gun, followed by Dieter Brunner and Urs Rothacher.
On
Wednesday a full west wind and radiant sunshine ensured
real racing in Paradise. The cold force 5 wind ensured
that we all had to look to our 'marathon-man' skills
throughout the day.
After a slow first day (he blamed the
volleyball), local hero Roger Oswald pulled out all
the stops and scored firsts in all 5 races. Newcomer
Urs Rothacher showed outstanding speed and good handling
and an earned second conclusion rank ahead of Martin
Mayrhofer. Strong individual results were also demonstrated
by Beat Blasi, Sebastian Treml and Marc Bell.
It was a superevent, where everybody returned
home with a content smile and severe muscular strain.
Cordial thanks to the supervising sports club, Segelclub
StMoritz, for fantastic hospitality and perfect organisation.
We would be delighted to be invited back again next
year.
