Record breaking competitors at the Open Dutch Skiff Championships!!!

In the weekend of 30th September and 1st October 2006, the Open Dutch Skiff Championship regatta was sailed at the Grevelingenmeer in Bruinisse.

A record breaking turn up of in total 59 competitors competing in 4 classes: RS Feva, 29er, Int Moth, and open skiff class ( among the Musto Skiff), made it a tremendous unequalled event for the main land.

The RS Feva and 29er classes had both a huge boost in Holland this year with dedicated training programs resulting in spectacular racing with the Open Dutch Skiff Championship as their Grand Finale.
The Open Dutch Skiff RS Feva Championship title was hard battle and earned by team Jorine van der Steen/Anne Lubbe.

In the 29er class it was Jason Hogendoorn/Kaj Bocker who were the quickest and took the Open Dutch Skiff 29er Championship title.

For the Int. Moth a combined Dutch/German Champion title was to be earned and taken by Sam Pascoe from the UK.

In the Open Skiff class the main battle was between the 49er team Nicolas Heiner/ Ferdinand van West and the Musto’s sailors Harry Hensen and Mathijs ten Berg, with the Skiff Trophy going to the 49er team sailing a superb event!

Considering the overwhelming big grins from all competitors it can only be concluded that the event was a great success and will become a phenomenon in the years ahead
