| Musto Skiff's Endeavour
Challenge.
As Sten was on holiday and I am still
European Champion I had the privelage to represent the
Musto Skiff class at this years Endeavour Trophy.
Myself and Grahme Vials turned up bright and early on
Friday morning and took delivery of our brand new Topper
Xenon. We rigged it as quickly as possible in the pouring
rain, then ran inside. Here we were given a briefing by
Harvey Hillary and then sent on the water for an excellent
days coaching.
Saturday arrived with a fresh breeze and the prospect
of 5 races. The racing throughout the day was very tight
and very enjoyable. We finished the day in 7th place
reasonably satisfied with our efforts.
A fantastic meal was enjoyed by the competitors on the
Saturday eveing washed down with the free wine.
Sunday arrived as did the pain in my legs. Two anadin
extra later and I was ready for the next 3 races.Moderate
winds were the order of the day, this seemed to suit
us better. We managed a 1st place in one race and were
generally very competitive.
We managed to finish 6th overall - I good result but
we could have done better ...
Many thanks to the Royal Corinthian and to all the event
sponsors.Holt,Marlow ropes and especially Topper for
providing the boats. The Xenon is a great boat to do
such an event in and should prove a popular boat with
less experienced sailors who want a bit of fun.
Special thanks to Grahme for getting us around the course
and to Paul Manning from Ovington Boats for being such
a good host.
Now all I have to do next year is beat Sten at the Nationals
and get another invite EASY!
regards,
Ian Trotter
