Musto
Skiff Scottish Travellers Trophy Series 2005
The first ever Musto Skiff Scottish Travellers Trophy
series came to an end at Royal Tay Yacht Club, without
the series leader Richard Stenhouse from Rutland. That
left the way clear for second placed Ian Renilson from
Dalgety Bay to win the event with a clean sweep of first
places. That put Ian & Richard on equal points in
the series, and with tie-breaks split by best discards
it was Ian Renilson that came out ahead. Martin Goodlad
from Peterhead finished third, and Kit Stenhouse from
Rutland was 4th.
This inaugural series was very well attended
by 22 boats from as far away as Peterhead to the North
and Whitstable to the South. The Musto Skiff class has
grown strongly in Scotland this year, and several more
sailors are planning to join the class next year.
Martin Goodlad has shown the biggest improvement
this year, and beat Ian Renilson in extreme conditions
to win the event at Aberdeen & Stonehaven. He could
have done well at Royal Tay too - if only he could have
kept upright!
We
all look forward to the 2006 season, when the events
will again be mostly shared with those for Scottish
Skiff Racing, and we expect the racing will be even
closer.
