Musto Skiffs
at the Lord Birkett
The best conditions in years welcomed
the ten skiff sailors to the Lord Birkett where 200
boats battle for the coveted Lord Birkett platter.
The course suited the skiffs with the
wind blowing down the lake making it in effect a windward
leeward. Ian Turnball revelled in the conditions to
take an impressive 1st place overall with Richard Stenhouse
2nd and Ian Trotter 3rd. Kev Anderson having got left
at the start pulled through to finish fifth.
Sunday dawned wet with light winds however
the wind filled in and the fleet got away after one
recall. Stenhouse, Anderson and Trotter got away at
the start and enjoyed a close exciting race with Anderson
pulling through to finish 1st, Trotter 2nd and Stenhouse
3rd.
This was enough to give Anderson the class
trophy and also to be joint on points with a jubilant
Lester Noble who managed to win the Lord Birkett trophy
on count back from Anderson.
Overall there were five skiffs in the
top 10 with Ian Turnball finishing 7th overall and Kit
Stenhouse finishing 8th.
Thanks to Ullswater for a great event
and congratulations to Lester and Lee Noble for holding
the Musto Skiffs at bay – JUST!
See you all next year.
