Hello mps british friends!
anybody knows when the worlds in silvaplana are taking place?

and is there the aim to split the fleet in groups(qualifications, finals) or just one big fleet like garda??

I suppose it's going to be another great event like this year.

Hi Enrico, the worlds will be 24 - 31 August 2008 but no details are yet available with regard to splitting up into two group. We shall have the worlds of the Fireball class next week with over 90 boats and as it looks at present as it will be run in two groups. We shall see how that will work out....

Usr,

What is the biggest fleet we could sensibly run as a single fleet?

It is difficult to say. This year we had 96 Fireballs and they were split up into 2 groups (48) which was fine. It could have been 60 for each group but I do not think more than that. However I guess that MPS needs more space (with our tubes making the boat much wider). If we would have 60 boats I guess we would have to find out in the training races whether it works and be prepared in the sailing instructions to split up if necessary for the real racing. Anything over 60 has to be split up in my opinion.
The split up needs more time for the racing so we have to take this into consideration as well.

OK - we'll use the survey to get a feel for the size of entry; please make sure all the SUI MPS'ers do the survey :D

Anyone planning to bring their families along? I've children who will be aged 13,10,4+1 & if I'm going to come I need to persuade them(and their mother!) that there will be enough for them to do while I'm swimming/following the fleet!

Urs,

Could you put a map on the worlds website so we can see where the club is so we can book close accomodation.

Thanks.

have a look under accomodation and will see "boat park"...it is at the south-western end of the lake of Silvaplana....Sils is the nearest but Silvapana, Surlej and Champfèr are all within 10 minutes by car
