Im planning to do the worlds at garda in September.

Just some early advice required.

Do you drive with boats or use containers.
and fly over and hire cars etc.
Stop at hotels or campsites.

I am driving with a few others I think yet to look for camping site but have been told there is one 10 minutes away walking
Properly leave a week early to grab some site ect be nice to go with a few others I think for safety reason lol

Where are you travelling from Terry?
From the uk we tend to club together with double or triple trailers. There is an airport nearby in Verona or Milan and so often someone drives and the other might fly. For those that fly, its usual to hire car or put a note on here to share costs or see if someone driving out is passing and pick you up.
its around 17 hours drive from Calais.
Usually an option to have your boat transferred professionally too.

will be an awesome and well attended event so well worth the trip.

camping is very close by, and lots of appartments to rent for very good rates

Myself and the chaps from Plym uni were hoping to possibly come over for it too but we need to borrow a triple stacker so we can take the one car. Has anyone got one that they aren't planning on using? Dont want to confirm anything yet but im sure between us we can club together and pay "rent" on it.

Just a note of advise here, please ensure you service your trailers before the drive to Riva. They are often left forgotten in a field somewhere and are miraculously expected to work for 2000 miles.
Set aside a bit of time to check the types (including the spare) and bearings particularly

Is anyone able to tell me what the water temp is like at that time of the year. I am just trying to figure out how much gear to take. Do I need a lightweight "Scottish White" Lycra suit as modeled in Perth, a normal wetsuit, or drysuit and hood?

Lake Garda is very deep and the frequent thermal breeze tends to mix the surface water. The result is that only the top layer gets warmed up, so it's possible the top 1m or so might be upwards of 20 degrees but if you floated upright you'd find your feet are probably only in 12 - 15 degrees at most.

(Fingers crossed) Assuming there isn't a low pressure over the Alps, the typical air temperature is around 23 - 26 degrees.

So far if I drive it's approx £130 each way through tunnel with trailer and 19 euros per night at nearby campsite. Looking favorite for me if girlfriend doesn't come. Apartment is about £450 for 10 nights.

I'm going to a friends wedding on the 12th September and will fly out on the 13th. Although I should make the measurement and registration deadline of 1800, the timing is a bit tight to guarantee it. Could this be a problem or will I be able to get all this sorted on the Monday?

Tex, don't forget swiss road tax for the car and the trailer and also tolls (driving around them is a PITA). All adds up to be quite a bit, I think you really need to take 2 boats + people to make driving it worth while over the simplicity of putting you boat on the trailer.
