Hi Justo,

Of course I wrote that comment before coming to sail with you :D
Palma would be a great place to sail from. We would just need to make sure we can get some deals on the ferries to keep the costs down. Or maybe even put the boats in a container and send them by truck, so that we can fly.

@Mark, sign the kids off school. I am sure they will appreciate it ;-) I am sure they chose those dates to try and keep costs down and to ensure accommodation was easily available.

It might be a good idea to add the question on the next survey about school holidays and worlds events, I would say school teachers can well afford the MPS boat and would not make any trips outside school holidays as at work, also how many would like to pay the extra cost to stay within school holidays, its not a win win situation whatever date, but should we put it to a vote for the class of paid up members? is that the fair way to go? would we get more boats out?
I would be a bit unhappy if I worked term time only, like some do, it does exclude some people and it was the same this year. it might exclude a few on cost in school holidays but its going to a big cost anyway.

Good idea about sending them by truck :D well done Bruce.
Chris

Mark

Many clubs don't hold events during that period as they have members with kids who are on holiday too, and therefore don't want to have a family holiday at their club running an event for somebody else.

A double ferry trip could also read a single cheap flight to Palma and a professional transport company shipping the boat...

Hi again,
The prices for the ferry will be the same that Sophia's cup, more or less 370€ for the car, trolley and
Passenger. Can change a little depent the season.
Like Paul says, there are many cheap flys from all Europe.
One more thing, why many Olympic teams(Germany, England, Nederland,...) from north Europe are coming to Palma for many years to do the preseason?

Hi there,

I was wondering where things stand with the dates for the Carnac worlds?

If they haven't been confirmed yet then I was wondering what the chances are that they'll be held in the school holidays? I appreciate that many people would prefer them to be outside of the school holiday as ferries etc are often cheaper, but many people may prefer them in the holidays so that they can travel with their families. Not to mention that teachers (like myself!) cannot make the Garda worlds, this summers nationals or even the last worlds in Perth (not that I could afford to go anyway!)

It would be really great if we could have a discussion about this, if the class members vote to have it outside of school holidays then fair enough, but it'd be good to have the chat.

What do people think?

FYI, the club have planned the dates as 7th - 11th June.

Sorry but I don't think that's what you wanted to read.

No that's not good news for me, but I appreciate these things need to be organised well in advanced and this probably suits the majority better...

Any chance of 2016 nationals being in the summer holidays? If not then fingers crossed for the 2017 worlds! If not then does anyone want to buy a boat?? :P

Haha - I think my wife would struggle to take my class as well as hers seeing as we work in different schools!

2016 is still a fair way off so I may be able to make it if my circumstances change a bit, but at the moment it looks unlikely. I know that it doesn't affect most people, but not having a single event in school holidays will stop most teachers joining the fleet, or in my case staying in it.

It would be great to have a formal discussion on this (more formally that on the forum maybe?!) so that we can see if anyone else wants a few events in the holidays, even one a year would be great! :)
