Wilsonian SC Coaching Weekend 2nd & 3rd June

We have a coaching weekend booked with Russ Clark on the 2nd and 3rd of June.

At Wilsonian we now have 9 or 10 members with Mustos and five of them have confirmed they can attend. We therefore have space for up to five others to join us.

The coaching will benefit from a healthy financial contribution from Noble Marine. I'm not sure what the exact costs will be at present but certainly not much.

The sailing club is at Hoo, near Rochester ME3 9HF on the River Medway where its quite narrow but launching is good at any tide or wind state. We then head down river, where it opens to a good sailing area.

The agenda for coaching has not been sorted yet, but will be all day Saturday and to around midday Sunday. You will be welcome to join us for the Sunday afternoon race which is a long distance race around the river channel marks which should be good. I will book Pub grub about 5 mins away on sat night.

I will add more detail when I know. Please post on here if you'd like to join us.

Thanks, Richard Smith MPS 419

Hi,

I have recently purchased a boat :D I have no experience in the class which I hope will not be too much of a hinderance to you. However, I am very experienced in sailing a BOSS. I have been out today in it from my club at Arun in light conditions to start to get a feel for it, I just need to get some techniques in working the boat.

If there is a space for me on the weekend then I will be staying locally so would like to join you Saturday evening for dinner if that is ok. Does the pub you are going to book have accommodation if so then I will book in or perhaps you could let me know where it is and I can try and get somewhere nearby. Subject to the training going to plan then I would really like to race on the Sunday afternoon too.

Look forward to hearing from you to confirm and hopefully meeting some other class members!!

Cheers
Lee

Hi Lee,

It will be great to have you join the coaching weekend, and look forward to meeting you. We have a fairly wide range of experience with our Mustos with some been in them for several years and a couple new to it from last Autumn.

I will suss out accom and pub restaurant at the weekend and pass on the info. The pub will be in Upnor, (about 5 mins drive from Wilsonian).

There is lots of information on the Forums about technical issues and techniques. If you can't find what is required, post any questions and there should soon be a response.

Thanks. Richard

Also if your on face book look up gbr Facebook page it’s very active and you always get pretty much instant responses to questions and general chit chat regarding events and the boat

Final notes for the Coaching

Russ would like us rigged but not changed for 10am.

An element of understanding sail shapes and boatspeed has been requested, but generally very flexible.

I think I'm writing this for one newby, (Lee) who is a guest attending from south coast, the other six are Wilsonian boats. One of these is not a a cast iron certainty. If anyone is thinking of a bit of coaching before the Nationals, this is the opportunity.

Main Rd, Hoo, ME3 9HF. The access to the sailing club is down a farm road on the right, (just before school on the left). There are no signs for the sailing club to deter unwanted visitors.

If you do make a late decision to join us please post here.

Thanks, Richard MPS419
