Since my previous post Technology has moved on and (waterproof) Bluetooth Headsets with microphone have become widely available at low cost (less than 20GBP). I guess saltwater is no good for them regardless, so the below only applies to sweet water or calm conditions at sea.
The following setup could make for amazing training effectiveness:
-teacher with mobile and Headset on either rib or another Skiff
-students with mobiles (it is wise to use an old phone!) in waterproof sleeves in the mast pocket strapped securely and Headsets
-the teacher dials all students into a conference call (Limit something like 5 People). People have flatrates these days, so no Problem there)
-These Headsets have noise cancelling tech so the Background noise might be bearable (if not you could Limit yourself to 1:1 calls)
-Batteries need to be fully charged when leaving shore...Comments?
Anybody keen to try this in reality?
