Dear all

Just to let you know that our ISAF approved class rules for 2013 are now available from the website at http://www.sailing.org/classesandequipment/20177.php

All rule changes for 2012 and 2013 are highlighted in red along with important fundamental wording to make it easier for you to pick up.

If you have any questions, please post here so the technical team can help.

Dear all

I have received an e-mail from a class member asking whether they can use a Velocitek Prostart under the latest class rules.

As this is a good point, I asked if I could use this as a rules question to post here.

As I'm sure you are all aware, our class is one of many ISAF classes which uses the closed class rules format. At the beginning of the rules is a sentence in bold red text which seems a little blunt, but is only worded this way to be as clear as possible. If you are not sure what it says, take a look :D

So to answer this question, no, you cannot use a Velocitek Prostart, as it has features not permitted in the latest class rules. In this products case, it has a clever bit of tech that tells you how far you are away from the start line. As it specifically does not say you can use this function in the rules this means you cannot use it.

I hope this helps clarify ths position.

Hi
from jthe class rules:

Quote:
C.5 PORTABLE EQUIPMENT
:
(2) One magnetic or electronic compass showing only information
relating to heading, speed, VMG, bearing, current or elapsed time.
:
(7) GPS device showing only information relating to heading speed,
VMG, bearing, current or elapsed time.

is there a comma missing between the words heading and speed under (7)?
