All you need to do is drop Ovington a line and they will sort out a kit for you with Selden :D

Have you read the article detailing the track changes?

Selden will also be making "repair kits" of spare track and the appropriate adhesive available to Ovington Boats (Northern Hemisphere) and the AUS dealer (Southern hemisphere). These kits will be available free of charge to any owners who may have a breakage of mast track.

I keep buying track (postage being more that the cost of the track) and glue from Ovingtons who told me to speak to Selden yesterday! Should I have been asking for a free repair kit then?

Yep; that is what it says ... did they give you a number and contact at Seldens to request the track/glue?

OK all ... here is how it is done ...

If you have a mast track failure then there is a free kit available to fix it ...

IF YOU ARE IN EUROPE OR NORTH AMERICA:

1) Take a photo of the broken track
2) Email the photo to dh@seldenmast.co.uk with your address and a kit will be shipped direct from Selden.

IF YOU ARE IN AUS or NZL

1) Take a photo of the broken track
2) Email the YOUR LOCAL dealer who will have kits that have been supplied by Selden. This means that you should get your solution quickly regardless of location.

Does anyone have any Plexus I can use or buy for Stokes Bay this weekend.

Apparently Selden doesn't have any in stock!!!

I broke about a 9-inch section of mast track up by the hounds last weekend.

Please let me know if you can offer any ideas.

Thanks

Andy

Thanks Paul,

Ben McGrane at P&B South has also offered the use of his Plexus gun if I do the job up at his place, so I'll aim to get it done before Saturday.

Cheers

Andy

With a little trepidation I'm writing to reopen this topic. Bit of personal luff track history:
New boat for Weymouth (476), windy event track broken in 2 places, 2nd baton near top of shrouds and 4th batten above lowers.
Recently some windy regattas the track's broken again in each same place.
First repaired section went at Morges so following procedure :-) David Hayes of Selden quickly dispatched a repair kit. Unfortunately it's not arrived so I had to get it fixed by Duvoisin anyway. To top it all the second repair went at Dongo last weekend so a trip back to Duvoisin is on the cards.

Intent is not a pointless moan, boats do break. However, as good as Duvoisin Bros are I'd like to be able to fix myself with a little help from Selden.
Other, qualitative, data we have is 3 identical age boat in Switzerland: Nic 470, Dieter 473 and me 476. Nic has had no issues and sails very regularly in all weather (except when it's a bit scary on Sat at Morges, Ed.). Dieter and I have both had to fix the track.
I know there's been some considerable effort to understand and fix the issue, are there any more avenues available?

I let David Hayes know in case he can track the repair kit.

John
