I have 1 question and 1 warning.

I made this system and sailed 2 or 3 times. It work fine but i'm not able to adjust it under load. I need to stop and stand up for changing the height, because my gloves do not allow me to catch the good piece of rope to get me lower or higher.

Anyway i consider it's a better system because of the continuous system avoiding nodes or free ropes flying messing up.

I have a question about the elastic way. It's a completely seperated subject, but i saw the one piece eslastic system with the block at the top of the spinnaker sock, and i was wondering if the sheets dont mess up with the elastics when pulling up and down the kite?!

Thank you for your feed back about this elastic way.

I was talking about the trapeze elastic way.

In high wind, when the trapeze lenght is max, my 2 trapeze elastics are too long.

In this topic, i saw some pictures with a new way for this elastic, with one bloc at the top of the spinnaker throat.

So i think the spinnaker sheets can get mixed with the elastic, which is higher than the deck.

Any feed back?

The system looks really good and I am definitely going to try it. Just wondering; why thimbles on just two of the eye splices? Why not on all three or on none? :?

Works fine with none. I think Iver doesn't have any. I just think it looks good - and if it looks good then it goes fast. Also it saves a little on chafe, so one less place to check.

3 won't work since one loop must pass through the other two.

I have made up new course adjusters and was about to fit them when I realised that I don't get how you rig the fine adjuster with this system. I have the tie lite block but where does the cleat go? Am I being stupid?

Dan did you manage to get a picture of your lines in the end?

Just made mine up, the adjustment is in fact 1 in 4, when you grab the rope and move it up the the movement will move the sailor up by 1/4 of the length pulled up, a 40cm movement on the rope shortens the overall system by 10cm, with thimbles this give twice the mechanical advantage of the rope adjustment by the bottom adjustment dependent on the friction of the rope?

One big advantage of this system is, if you leave a tail on the middle loop you can very quickly shorten the length of the trapeze with one big pull when you are standing up at the bottom gate, grabbing the eye might be hard in a blow but a small tail with a knot at the end should work well.
With the way this new system works so well it does make you wonder whether two systems could replace the current two to one bottom cleat, for myself the bottom system now needs less adjustment as its so easy to play with the new top adjustment.
ADJUSTMENT LIMIT of mine is 138cm to 93cm so its short length add half again, 45cm movement.

LENGTH of trapeze line from tip of terminal to bottom of ring is 4800mm for force 5 to 6 just hitting the rack at the front in-line with Sten and Kits DVD.
Going to try with main trapeze line 2800mm in length to thimble leaving ivers system with 150mm of rope to grab at 4800mm length?
Cool system Thanks Iver great pimp.

Chris

I make the course adjuster as per the pimps using a 3m rope but it gave far too much adjustment - around 2.4m as per the pimp is spot on, but i don't adjust them during the race unless there is a massive change in wind speed, i much prefer to use the normal 2:1 system for in race and set up the thimble system so my hook is where i want it upwind without too much excessive rope getting in the way.

Is anyone selling the 'Iver-style' multi-adjustable trapeze lines as a ready-made package?

My knees are wanting a set before the Nationals.

Thanks

Andy

surely as its your home club Andy you have spoken to the club Commodore and you've ordered 25 degrees, a south easterly swell and 15 to 20 knots of breeze..... so your knees should be fine 8)

Hi Dangerboy, you're right! I'd forgotten but will have words with the Commodore and make sure we are straight legs all regatta.

Cheers

Hi,

Thinking about trying this system, after I made one up and finally understood how it works!

At the top of the page showing the pictures:

http://www.mustoskiff.com/pimp-my-skiff ... -lines.htm

There is a note suggesting that the setup may not be legal.

Is this concern still valid?

I read the rules and C9.9 (a) (1) seemed to me to suggest that it was OK.

Thanks

We are in the process of the annual rules review for voting on in the survey and amending the wording to clarify points such as this.
