The voting system for the national reps is very strange.
(exception AUS, ESP, GBR, GER, SUI)

Example slo/ita Mitja Margon:
Because 0% SLO and 0% ITA sailors have done the survey the result: 94.74% (19count) Yes is complete rubish!

Hi Nicholas

Hope you are well. I don't understand. What is your suggestion as to how to elect the national representatives? We want to get people from lots of countries involved and get their input don't we?

We also need to get more people out promoting the class and getting people to try it. Any thoughts?

David

Hi Nicolas

We publish the survey results in the raw form.

When it comes to matters of voting on class rules and officers we do further processing.

1) We double check all scripts against our membership records and discard any from people who are not paid up MSCA members
2) We remove any duplicate and/or fake scripts
3) In the case of national elections we remove any votes from out of the region

Even though the question clearly says "Please only vote for the person in your region" some people have voted for people that are not in their region as they have in this case.

I suspect either people didn't read the question properly or the person is known to them and as such wanted to support their re-election.

In this specific case the lack of people willing to stand and/or vote is disappointing but we are lucky that Mitja, a multiple Olympian, is willing to continue to represent the class in that region; he has been a good friend of the class and in the past has organised a very successful championships for us ... we are lucky to have his continued contribution; he even travelled to Riva in 2015 just to contribute to the meeting.

If you need any further input can I please ask you to direct it to your national representative.

Don't need any input
Just want to pass the thought about a issue to the committee

Hi Nicolas

Always happy to have input, however, when members want to mention matters relating to the overall management of the class, it's better to go through the class structure so the local representative is aware of the local views.
It can then be added to the next international committee meeting agenda for full discussion.
