A crew may display the national flag of the crew in the relevant area shown in the drawing in section H below, being no larger than 20mm x 15mm. This may be made mandatory in the SIs at International events.

cant we alter this so we can have a 49er style flag rather then tiny flag ?

We don't really have the space to do that as we have less panels plus they are not cheap at £58.

Yes we do we have loads of room
We have already discussed where it would go

It would go where the musto logo is now with musto over the top if it

The cost has nothing to do with it other wise if we was worried about cost then we should worry about the rig situation not a 50 quid sticker ;-)
and I would not get from Hyde anyway it would come from else where

49ers do it
800 do it
Moths do it

It's all the rage These days

When you say over the top do you mean apply the Musto logo on top of the flag?

You couldn't do that as it would infringe the Musto brand guidelines and render the logo illegible.

Also that would require customers to fit the logo themselves as the numbers/national flag would have to be fitted beyond the point of manufacture. Given then number of people who have to reapply their numbers at the worlds I can't see that being practical.

If you mean fit the flag on the panel and then apply the logo above in the head panel, that panel wouldn't be big enough.

Nope the flag then logo over the flag the musto logo would be fine as the back grounds will be a different colour ther fore properly makeing the logo easier to read then it is now as it would be on a solid back ground

I was referring to sail repairs not foil repairs.
The GBR flag would look cool st the top of the rig like most other classes do. £58 is quite expensive for a sticker of 15mm x 20mm also! Haha

Have you looked at the proposed logo, flag and sponsor logo diagram in the new rule set?

As a class we are very lucky to have a major class sponsor and we have created a drawing that does not create issues that would conflict with our sponsor but would allow sailors to carry a national flag if they choose. The drawing in the proposed rules shows this.

A flag or any logo surrounding the class logo will infringe our sponsors conditions and would therefore not be permitted in the current rules, future rules or previous rules.

Although it has raised the point that the proposed rule should of course have said cm and not mm, otherwise it'd be rather small...

So how is this conflicting with the logo ??

It will make it stand out more and as it's a U.K. Brand properly coincides quite well and will make the musto logo stand out I am not sure what your issue is with it
You want to bring the brand the boat what ever up to date then this is another suggestion disscussed let's not put the blockers on it there are a few who would like to try so let's try it surly

Also am I right in thinking you have already messed about with the logo by dropping the performance out of the logo ? ?
I say we trail it over the winter

You do now how big 20mmx15mm is right it's bloody small

Musto is a global brand and we are an international class.

I'm pretty sure you are pulling my leg but anyway I have mocked up how it would look.

This is a non-starter because:

1) It would not be acceptable to Musto
2) Many people take great pride in their national flag and would be unhappy to see it defaced with a corporate logo
3) The logo can't be read on the flags
4) It also looks awful ...

I think it should be class voted

I'm not making the decision I am giving my opinion and advising you on the restrictions of our sponsor and also advising you of how some people would react to their national flag being defaced.

However; if you want to progress this then the process is you ask your national rep to table it for inclusion in the survey.
