As I say Jason, you simply need to ask a question...

My question is when do we know if the new rules have been voted in or out

Also Bruce asked a question regarding foil repair under the proposed rules

As with every years survey data

1. I check people who have completed the survey as members are paid up current members
2. All the questions and data from the survey are published
3. In the case of the rules, any class approved changes require approval from World Sailing
4. World Sailing release the class rules

So before number 3 is enagaged will us the sailor be informed as it's not just one or 2 changes the whole lot of rules have been proposed to change and as far as I am aware I voted either to bring in the whole lot of new rules or not I did not vote to bring in individual rules the rules you proposed was as a package and not singularly

The survey data will be published early in the New Year, so all results will be published as per every year. If the result of the survey is not to adopt the proposed new rules in their entirety then the current rules will be kept. If the result is in favour of adopting the proposed rules in their entirety then the next step is for World Sailing to approve them, after which they will be published.
As the class is an international class and administered by the association on their behalf they may ask for amendments in format, wording etc to comply with decisions made at this years conference for instance.

What conference is this ? So if they would like to change the wording you could be effectively changeing the rule so I guess we get to vote on this as well ? And see a draft copy of the wording we would be using?

World Sailing are the governing body of our sport. They manage everything to do with our sport, such as the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Equipment Rules of Sailing, as well as the Olympic Sailing event and all international classes.
The Musto Skiff is an international class and must abid by all World Sailing Regulations, which for instance includes an annual report that I submit to them covering all the previous years information.
Annually in November World Sailing hold their conference. This conference covers all elements of our sport and on a four year cycle post the Olympics also release the latest version of the RRS and ERS etc. Sometimes these new documents require their classes to amend their rules to conform with the latest World Sailing requirements.
As I mentioned previously, all class rules must also be approved by World Sailing and sometimes in addition to the above changes, they require wording or phrasing changes. These have been carried out in conjunction with the classes technical committee since the class became an international class.
As per World Sailing regulations the class members have voted a committee to administer the running of the class and as a class we have an extremely open and democratic method of managing the class (far more than most), however, at some point the members must rely on their committee to do the best for them otherwise you would be constantly being asked to vote on every minor point that comes about which would be impractical. Of course if the changes were more major the members would be asked to comment. As an example, in the UK people vote for a government and rely on them to run the country on the populations behalf, otherwise you would need to sit in the House of Commons having a personal comment on everything discussed.

There are no amendments to the rules regarding the foils.
