Technical request - sail number test

Postby paul manning » Fri Sep 09, 2016 10:44 am

Following a request to the class technical committee from Dan Henderson and George Hand, the committee have given limited permission to permit these two sailors to trial using the 1-50 sail number based on the finishing position at the Carnac Worlds, solely to show other members what this would look like.

The class started at sail number 051, with the intention of keeping sail numbers 1-50 to be used annually by sailors who finished in the top 50 at that years World Championships.

So a sailor finishing in 7th could if they chose use the following

AUS7

However, they would need to change at the next World Championships and if the boat was sold, the new owner would need to use the boats number.

So George gets the next 9 months to remind Dan that he beat him at the Worlds, every time they go sailing ... :)
I think we should make sure they carry lead weights to contract the advantage they are getting by saving all that weight of those sail numbers. 10kg mounted on the spreaders sounds reasonable to me.

We can do that down at the club if you like without the need for changing your sail numbers

Just up to the class survey this year at which point the class will vote on it along with any other questions.
The outcome of which will then be published.
