To help hoisting the main I have tied a block below the bottom of the mast heel to turn the rope so the pull is horizontal. Is it permitted to fix this block to the actual mast somewhere near the heel roughly in line with the halliard jammer?

Hi Jon

Thank you for your question.

Class rule C.6.1.3 (f) states

A single block of no more than 30mm diameter may be attached to the mast using the mast step fixing screw and a lacing eye, or mast step to assist in hoisting the mainsail

I hope that helps.
