Has pthe class thought about this season and maybe doing live face book video at events for international and uk events
We could have a class iPad and ask the the race officer helpers or someone to do some sort of coverage also the beauty also is the video get saved so will always be available

Jay,

live footage is a great idea, ideally someone with fleet knowledge to commentate would be great, only issue is 3g/4g signal at race areas. i know the river blackwater has service but unsure of other venues.

ive thought about a multi camera live feed via youtube could be set up but requires several volunteers, one to run the production computer to switch between feeds and if youre race tracking another computer to run that as a feed too, and then at least 3 people (windward mark, line, leeward mark) with good quality camera phones with unlimited data package, possibly ribs and drivers too outside of the support boats as you wont get a good show when youre trying to film and being hurled about looking after capsized the muppet (me) at the back. id like to get some volunteers together and to a "dry" test run one day to check it all would work, but time always escapes me.

I just think someone in a rib following the fleet is enough
I followed the moths in Bermuda via face book live feed and it was awesome !
We don't sail far enough of shore to make signal a issue I think

agree Jay that the first option of just following from a rib or from com boat with smart phone is easiest, i suggest the other setup is more technical and would require a team that has worked out any kinks before and would only use for a worlds level event. my issue with phone cameras is that the lens are rubbish and you cant see the boats until they're on top of you, thus making footage boring, so you need a great commentator to make it all watchable.

Here's a example of a simple face book live feed

Can't be assed to start giving examples of this that and the other
I just thought it was a nice idea
