East Coast Piers Race 2016

Hi All

I'm planning to have a crack at the East Coast Piers Race again this year. All the info can be found at http://www.eastcoastpiersrace.com/. It would be great to have a few more Mustos there to play with.

We will be doing the Colne Point Race which is about 27 miles, although you cover a bit more depending on wind direction etc. It took me just shy of 3 hours last year, and it's a race that could definitely be won by a well sailed Musto. The navigation is easy - you pretty much just sail headland to headland going through a series of gates which they use to keep track of the fleet for safety purposes.

There are requirements to carry some safety kit which are in the SIs. I just had a dry bag clipped around my rack with it all in so it didn't get in the way at all. The hardest thing to store was the paddle, which I tied underneath the spinnaker sock.

There are two round the cans races on the Saturday afternoon with the long distance race on the Sunday. Overall it was a really well run, relaxed event and something a little out the ordinary.

If you have any questions give me a shout, otherwise hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Cheers

A few of the blackwater Musto's will be around I am sure. I am planning on doing the Sunday if there is any breeze, can probably also offer accomodation 20 mins from the club if you don't fancy camping
