Stokes Bay Open 9/10 Apr 2011
Posted: Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:48 pm
All,
At Stokes Bay we have had a few ideas for this year's open meeting - details yet to be confirmed.
The Weekend Before
We may do some organised coaching the weekend before - although this will depend on interest in what is a very busy opening to the season. In any case, if visitors want to leave their boats in the club compound after the Rutland Open and sail on the weekend before they will be most welcome. Club racing is on the Sunday and there is a £5 daysailing fee.
Friday 8 April
If people want to come down the day before and set up or sail, then with a bit of prior arrangement we should be able to facilitate.
Sat 9 April
Joint Open Meeting with B14s
Russ Clark (Some say he is an Olympic Coach, Others see him as a Musto God, but we know him as 'Big Unit') will be doing a pre-brief on Weather and Tide and will be filming the day's racing before conducting a video de-brief in the evening.
Catering will be open for breakfast, lunch and we will do a calorific and satisfying evening meal (with veggie options) to be served as soon as possible after the completion of racing (about 5:30).
There will be a Pub Quiz in the evening - for those that were present at last year's Nationals the questions will be different. I am planning a 'Rod Stewart Round' in honour of Dan Henderson's recent Global Victory. There will be B14 questions, Musto questions and any tie-breaks will be resolved by a dance-off to Salt N Peppa's seminal 1987 hit 'Push It'.
Note :"This dance ain't for everybody, only the sexy people"
Sun 10 April
Prizes
Yet to be decided - I am open to suggestions. Rosettes anyone?
It would be helpful to know how many are planning to attend- so please post a reply.
This is going to be massive
