Sydney Test Sail

Hey all,
Wondering if there are any boats in sydney which I could have a test sail on. Also, realistically is 100kg a competitive crew weight. Is there anyone at the top of the class that is this heavy. I noticed the weight survey but wondering if there is anyone in top 10 that is ~ 100kg

Cheers,
Henry

Henry,
We actually don't have any boats in Sydney - had one for a while, but it was sold - I think it's in Toowoomba or Cairns now.
The Cairns one is for sale, by the way.
100 kg's isn't too heavy - we have a couple of guys in Melbourne at around that weight, and they're hard to beat in a breeze - and still very competitive in light weather as well.
So sell your NS14 and buy a Musto - Worlds in Melbourne in January, and you're far too heavy for the NS anyway!
As I said, there is one for sale in Cairns, or else we are expecting another container of new boats in Septemer/October.
Or come down to Melbourne one weekend for a sail

Gday Helmy,
Your right I am too heavy for the NS. Not particularly looking for a long term option but I currently don't have a 16ft Skiff to sail on next season so contemplating the idea of doing the worlds. I finish school in november and am taking a year off after that so got plenty of time on my hands for the next yr and a half once Im done with school. Also means plenty of time for a bit of training if I got a boat.

What is the total cost incl. transport etc for a new boat by the time it gets to Melbourne

Henry,
We pay Ovi's in gbp's, so it's a little dependent on the exchange rate at the time.
Current price is around A$16,000
If you can't quite make it to that level, perhaps the Cairns boat may be another option, particularly if you have any transport contacts to get it down to Sydney.
The boats are pretty much bullet-proof, so buying a 2nd hand boat is not an issue apart from the condition of the sails.
