How much is insurance for one of these beasts? I will be looking to buy one soon and need to work out if i can afford it.

Also, how much is a new boat with all the tricks?

Cheers
Chris

The list price is here http://www.mustoskiff.com/price-list.htm

I'd call Ovi's to discuss your specific needs ... I find the MPS one of the cheapest boats to own I have ever had.

I insure with Nobles who support the class. If you click the Noble banner on the class home page it takes you to a page on the Noble site that will give you a quote based on your planned set up.

I went sailing this Sunday in force 5 the same as the ovinton inlands, as usual not a sign of stress in the boat and have given my boat some stick since August, this is reflected in the price of the insurance. not many claims and at £300 for a 8 grand boat, less for the older boats.
I have not spent a penny on this boat yet as it so well designed and no wear except for the main sheet.
This is a cheap boat to own once you have one, Cheaper than my laser 1, and that was cheap and the mains looks like it will last forever.

UPDATE

Dacron fabric for sail £15
New main sheet as old one now in bits due to over use
New kicker rope again 1m x 3mm
Boat still looks great

My practice main on the Musto looks like it will last forever, the only part I have trouble with is the front lower half that covers the vang, over the years it always goes where it creases, from the front straps upwards and across.
A very cheap way I have found to stop this is using Dacron fabric(sail number material), You can git it from http://www.profabrics.co.uk/shop/show_p ... =MSA43-112
1.57m x 1m for about £15 or at the local sail makers for £10, if they will sell it you, you just put it across where the vang is but leave it short of the bottom so you can see vang position, this is the same matierial as the circle for the main at the spreaders point, it is strong enough to repair any sail instead of the £150 it costs to have it done at the sailmaker and can get you on the water the same day.
Any others on the ways to keep the old main going, the main part of the main looks great, must have been up the mast 200 times +.

UPDATE

Now 22 NOV 2011, still using the boats lots and in all winds, only had to replace the downhaul rope, still think that the main is still fine, kite is ok but very full and hard to play so oversheet it to keep it full. A very cheap boat to run, all I need to do is live near to the club, petrol, just do not ask

UPDATE
No news till last week, just rigged the boat and sailed it for the last two years at no cost at all, now using a second hand kite at 80 pounds to save my good 2008 kite in good condition, last week the spring in the Harken mainsheet cleat broke, looking to see if one can be bought from Harken, Just got the 8mm bolts and 3mm lowers upgrade now just in case £60, not sure if the lowers were needed but that is it for the last two years from the last post. :) The second hand main I got in 2008 is still going strong and still winning club races, it must be 6 years old now, still using Draycon sail number cloth to repair some small rips, it on its way out now.
