I want to try out a MPS in Stokes Bay

Postby Nick Rivlin » Wed Jul 16, 2008 4:32 pm

I am interested in trying out a Musto Skiff either this weekend 19/20 July or the following one, 26/27 July at Stokes Bay if it is possible.

I am 52 years old and weigh 91 kg. I have dinghy sailed all my life and grew up in Seaview, Isle of Wight, where I still sail and windsurf. As a teenager I sailed a Unit (designed by Dave Thomas and only 9 built!). It was similar to a contender, but a bit more stable with a sliding seat. Faster up wind, but slower off the wind. I then spent some 20 years plus as an obsessed wavesailor, mainly sailing in North Devon and still windsurf when I can. I got back into dighies seriously several years ago teaching all the kids and then bought a buzz to have some thrills with them and get them going in a 2 man skiff dinghy. However they wanted to stay single handed or thought I was too extreme as for the last 2-3 years I have been mainly sailing it single handed on the wire with the asymetric and spending a lot of time in the water when the wind gets too strong for sailing solo!

I tried out an RS700 a couple of years ago but having seen the Musto Skiff at the dinghy show thought it looked better.

What do you reckon and is there any one at Stokes Bay I could perhaps go with to try out a boat?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Nick

I will be down at the Stokes Bay for club racing on Sun 20 (and probably the following Sunday as well).

Happy to take you out for a spin (conditions allowing) before or after club racing.

Before-- meet at 0900 and get out about 0945 for an hour or so or.....After about 1330. Make sure you wear a pink carnation so I recognise you.

Dan

That sounds good. Weather permitting I'd like to aim for going out before racing on Sunday 20th, so will aim to be there at 9am. Not sure about the carnation, but I'll wear something pink anyway!

I'll give you a call on the mobile as well.

Thanks
