Mix and Match Mast?

Hi Team,

I have a "friend", lets call him Noraa, who has broken a mast top section, in the middle of the section, due to the harbour not being deep enough and a very strong tide. Since this is a one design boat, does that mean "my friend" can just put a new top section on?

Hi,

As long as it comes from the official supplier (Ovington boats), then you (I mean he :D ) can just put a new top section on. As long as both parts of the mast are from Ovis then you can mix and match as much as you like. If we were a "Pro" class like the 49ers then I am sure people would buy 20 top and bottom sections and find the best combination, but luckily we aren't!

Hi think Bruce has answered this very well and is one of the advantages of a multi section mast.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that, exactly what I was hoping you would say. Times like this it is great to sail a one design boat with a multi piece mast.

I will give Ovington a call and see what they can do for me. Hopefully they can get e up and running again soon.
