All upcoming events are shown on the event widget on the home page:

If the GBR Committee want to publish an event preview I'd be happy to do that; no problem.

Hi Jason

Sorry not really. The website is the home of the international class, so we'd need to post all events to be consistent. At the moment, we only promote international events (inc. EuroCups) and it would require an additional level of managing.

I will post on the committee section to ask for views.

The forthcoming events are on the home page ... as indicated by the big green arrow above in case you could not see it ...

Rick what i think hes getting at is it would be nice for it to appear as an article in the main body of the site, also an easy way for people to be reminded of events is to add them, as you already do for worlds events, to the facebook page events tab.

The event preview stuff that we do for international events gets published by the International Committee; i.e. I write them, with the help of Paul, and then publish them

If the GBR committee want me to publish an event preview for a GBR event then I am sure that would be fine; email me the details and I can do it ...

And its a great job you guys do, works nicely for all, so what you're asking for is for someone to bring the content to you and you'll post it. So who's job would that be then, the musto skiff event organiser/regional rep/the club?

As for the FB events tab, could i ask as a class assoc member that the dates for all events are in there as a matter of course each season, helps me organise my calendar without any manual input from me (what can i say im lazy), from experience it worked well for bringing in more participation at club level when i ran that sort of thing. cheers.

Yes - for international events we take care of that; if you want previews for GBR events someone in the GBR committee just needs to send me the info and I will happily post it.

GBR committee is detailed here: http://www.mustoskiff.com/class-associa ... mittee.htm

:D everyone wants an easy life different people manage their schedules is different ways (and some are disorganised ...) and if we catered of all the many different options we'd be here all day ... as a class we have settled on using the Google calendar function you can automatically synchronise this with many mobile devices and desktop applications. Give it a go ... then all the fixtures are in your schedule.

Cheers Rick, sync'd up, personally still think its worth the 10 minutes loading events into the FB page to make sure all bases are covered, "build it and they will come", but thats my opinion. :D

cheers again

The challenge is there are so many different ways of doing things you can never cover all the bases. Also - what sounds like a 10 minute job is never that ...

Maintenance is also an issue; Google is the master; if an event then gets loaded to FB and then there is a change it then has to be updated in 2 places.

For instance we know that only 73% of Musto Skiff sailors have Facebook accounts so you instantly ignore 27% of your population if you follow that route.

We will look to see if there is a way to upload a Google schedule to Facebook. If the FB page events can be auto sync'ed to the Google schedule that may be an option.

The other point to consider is Facebook overload ... if you put too much stuff on their people end up hiding you ... it is a balancing act ...

Perhaps the UK need their own Facebook group as this perhaps would overload the fan page which is international in focus ...

Also worthy of consideration is possible damage; if an open does not get social momentum then people may decide not to go as it looks like no-one is going when it actually turns out that everyone is going but they just don't have the time or inclination to say so on Facebook...

agree with oli

also now it would be in the classes interest to post uk events as you do with the international stuff because you have so many boats at clubs these days people are getting less likely to travel as they already have 10 boats to race against at the home club

i will tell you what give me the website details and i will do it ! at the end of the day the more boats the come to uk events the better for all and as oli said you build they will come

you don't need to do all that just advertise it as you do with international stuff on the main page don't have to touch face book

In which case I refer you to my post on the 22nd ...

Perhaps the GBR team could get together and work out what would work best for them as a collective ....

Really don't understand what is difficult about sticking a up event up and advertise as you do a international event really it would take 5 mins to do so like I said give me the website details and will do it if it's to much effort
