Mast top section repair advice please

I have hull #199, with a Selden carbon mast. It's a 2005 era boat.

I snapped the top section of the mast and pulled part of the main sail track off the mast.

Can this mast be repaired with a new top section and gluing on a new sail track?
Will the top section for sale in the Ovington web store do the trick?
How would you attach the sail track? Any specific type of epoxy?

Thanks for your consideration.

It depends on whether the internal join sleeve at the blue / black plastic collar is still in place.

If it also broke, you will need a new join sleeve.

All this can be arranged through Ovington Boats

Hi Paul,

One of the Stokes Bay crew has just had a [Hull No.375 generation] mast problem. The mast collar split at the hounds and the top section dropped down a few centimetres, ripping off the track at that point.

Sounds like this has happened to a few others and I don't know if you've already addressed this on the forum. Two questions:

1. What if this has happened to your mast? What's the best way of fixing it?

2. What if it HASN'T happened but you want to take some remedial action? What would be an effective and class-legal way of preventing before the cure is required instead?

thanks

Andy

I've issued a reminder on the FB Group to to catch any potential new owners who may have missed this advice. Thanks for bringing this up.

my one was glued by Ovi's but this still happened to me 2 weeks ago. It took 4 people and 2 hours to separate the glued top section. As a result the collar and the top assembly and some mast track were damaged. The collar is a real pain to get hold of, none of Selden suppliers had this available including Ovingtons.
