Re: Grip on Musto

I am going to do this upgrade this season. Last year Tilman was kind enough to let me sail his MPS while I visiting Pieter in California. It was a dream being able to sail in shorts and not have the typical calf scars. I also found the padding to be really comfortable on my aging feet. :D Thanks for...

Re: 2017: Musto top covers

I believe that this is the latest generation of MPS covers. In my opinion, it's similar to the 2007 covers in terms of design and fasteners but better materials. Here is my attempt to describe the top cover: The cover material is a breathable cotton similar to Sunbrella with a large Ovington logo ov...

So, a decision was made? I'm confused by bristolled's comment.

I was inspired to read this whole thread after blowing up my original main sail two days ago.

Re: Batten Tension Article

Old sail question: This season I am having trouble setting my lowest batten tension to remove a very subtle double-bend near the clew end of my original 2007 main. On a starboard tack the main looks perfect, on a port tack the lower batten pops over nicely but then this little S bend will sometimes ...

Re: Re-coating the kite

I've heard of people using Nikwax http://www.nikwax.com/en-us/products/productdetail.php?productid=251&itemid=-1&fabricid=-1 No doubt someone will tell me this is a serious no-no. :x I haven't tried it myself but i've seen it used on an old kite and it seemed to bring a bit of life back in ...

Re: Role Call for US and Canadian Boats

Cool! Not sure how many people follow the forums here these days. We often sail with the Swift Solos, so some of us are on their ListServe and we often do joint events.

2017: Musto top covers

Can anyone comment on the current generation of Ovington top covers for the Musto? I am curious if the design has changed since the ~2013 redesign mentioned in this Top Covers thread? The Ovington website does not provide valuable photos or any details about the current cover. I'm debating if I shou...

Best way to protect your boat for an extended stay?

What is the best way to protect your Musto for a season without use? Boards and sails are all safely in my shed and out of the elements, but skiff is on gravel outside my house in the elements. What do people recommend for rain and UV protection? - My first attempt was to put the bottom and two top ...

Looking for mast clear coat input

Has anyone else done a clear coat repair and can chime in about their product experience and how long the repair lasted? About 2 years ago I did a clear coat repair on my mast. Here is the old link: http://www.mustoskiff.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1650&hilit=clear+coat It was obviously t...
