Re: Garda 2013

I was there in the 8's too, and whilst I'm definitely not front of fleet material, if we could tag onto the Riva Cup I'll be there! Riva is just an amazing place to be, and I can't wait to get back! The racing if it's breezy can be challenging, but the first couple of days this year were only 16-20k...

Re: Downind sailing in light to medium airs

Cheers guys, was just worried about picking up bad habits. Think I'll stick with it if it works for the time being. And will definitely get myself a copy of the DVD!

Cheers, Oli

Re: Downind sailing in light to medium airs

Nope, is it worth getting the DVD? I've got a clip somewhere for the main sheet, but not really fancying trying to juggle that as well at the moment, and I seem to get into more trouble trying to get in and reach the main sheet after a gybe, than I do just getting across, getting the kite set and ge...

Downind sailing in light to medium airs

Hi, I'm trying to get out a bit more in the musto and had a great day on the water at the weeking in 6-12kts. Tried to focus on gybing practice, and I found that trying to dump some main before the gybe was just a distraction, and it worked better for me to leave the boom on the rear quarter and con...

Re: Which mainsheet blocks for the boom? Advice please

Be carefull with the Orbit blocks - I had them all over my 300, and two came detached from the boom on the sea last year. Turns out the clips both either broke or slipped off, but once they were gone there was nothing to reattach and it was a long drift in. In fairness, Ronstan replaced the clips FO...

Re: post-first sail issues

Cheers Chris, I had a great day on Saturday and, despite getting into grief for not getting back home in time for evening commitments with the mrs (may have had something to do with checking everything was strapped down ok in a pub car park and getting distracted...), I'm going to look at trying to ...

post-first sail issues

First sail in the Musto on Saturday - launched into a fresh gusty Southerly breeze at Carsington, and came in wondering what I'd been doing racing 'balls etc for the past few years! Got flattened on most hoists (think I managed two without tipping it in...), gybes (none landed...), and drops (manage...

Re: kite system rigging

Got it!... Cheers Rick. I was tying to make it more complicated - I assumed the retaining line would be linked to the kite system like on 9'ers where it is pulled tight as the kite is launched, and slackens off when dropped to allow the pole to easily slide back in. You know what they say about assu...

Re: kite system rigging

Final question I promise!

I still can't work out what the pole tension line ties to on the port side. The stopper knot is on the starboard side, and the line runs over the pole, through the eyelet, and to???

Should've taken photos before stripping everything off...!

Cheers

Re: kite system rigging

Cheers for the reply Rick, but I fear I must be blind as I still can't see how the pole is rigged!!?? On the aft pole support there is an eyelet either side of the pole - presumably I need a piece of rope with a stopper knot one side, but I can't remember how the other side is rigged and where the r...

kite system rigging

Hopefully someone can advise... I picked up a musto last week and with a Saturday morning going spare, decided to strip everything off it, give it a good clean and re-rig everything, totally forgetting to note how the pole/kite system was rigged! Can anyone advise how the pole outhaul/pole tensionin...
