Re: BLAIRGOWRIE WORLDS: Accommodation Questions and Plans

Hi Ian, I have stayed at the boathouse resort now 4 times, and its good and probably the best option. Its very close to the club, maybe that means a cost saving in the car rental, the accommodation is good, shops and the town/ dinner are walking distance and there is plenty for the family to do clos...

Re: Proposed New Mainsail / Mast / Rig - Merged topic ...

Hi All, In regard to the new mast could I add/ repeat a view as a sailor from West Australia WA is a demanding place to sail, its consistently very windy, and we have a long sailing season, our experience us vastly different from European or UK sailors, so is the style and standard of racing (we do ...

Re: Class rule official interpretation 2 - rule C.9.7

Hi All, I tried dyform back when we were breaking 2.5mm lowers it worked and did not break. The only difference was I had to change to slightly less tension because dyform stretched less. As Paul indicates it was pretty much the same as when we went to 3mm lowers - less stretch & breakage. As I ...

Perth worlds container

Hi all those coming from overseas, the containers are here at the club. We had a quarantine inspection so we had to partially unpack, mainly just the trolleys. Everything inside looked really good nothing moved and no damage. Chris Sutherland Aus 511

Re: Buying boat insurance to include for the worlds

Hi Tim,

We posted an amendment to the Notice of Race on the 8th December, that the 3rd Party Liability for the regatta was amended to $5m Aus, that is approximately GBP 2.6m, so you should not have a problem now.

See you in a couple of weeks,

I am sure there is a pretty reasonable solution

Give me a couple of days

Re: PERTH WORLDS 2015 - Paying Entry Fee

Hi Tim, Thanks for asking about paying the entry using credit cards. Its a good question and I wish we had a better answer. I agree all forms of sending money are expensive either in fees or the exchage rate they do it at, or both. We have looked at a bunch of options including credit cards and the ...

Re: Question on new chain plate by Ovi's

Hi Paul I think you are wrong on your understanding of C 7.2 The rule clearly allows replacement of cleats blocks and fittings ie you can replace fittings. it does place restrictions on blocks and cleats but not fittings ie you can, you most certainly can change bolts, rivets, screws, shackles on th...

Re: Question on new chain plate by Ovi's

Hi Tim, Merry Christmas This one is pretty clear C 7.2 a (2) allows you to replace any fitting, you have chosen to get one from Ovingtons, but you could also have gone to your local shop and bought one, it's the same as replacing say a Harken cleat with a Ronstan. You can therefore use any length yo...

Hi All, One of the activities planned for the 2015 Perth Worlds is the Speed trials The speed trials will be after the days racing in the full seabreeze which is 23 - 26knots on a section of water flat shallow water infront of the club. The plan for the speed trial is simple. There is one rule, the ...

Re: RUDDER BUSHES

Hi, I bushed my Gantry yesterday using a 29/ 64 drill bit and a hand held drill. I took the gantry off the boat although its not a good shape to put in a vice. The 29/64 (11.5) drill is plenty big enough, and there is enough meat in the gantry, I also used epoxy glue so it seems to be a good outcome...

Re: 2012 World Championships: Weymouth (GBR)

Paul, Rick Just to be clear ISAF does not require weighting of boats, that is not what the measuring manual says. Taking down your mast stripping and drying your boat and going to a hangar on the race days is not a good idea. At Black Rock and Slovenia weighting was not done, measuring was not done ...

Re: Weighting boats - Weymouth (GBR)

Rick and Paul, In regard to measuring at the worlds there is a fair difference between what you have said and what is planned by Chris Henderson the measurer. I see the post from Rick and Paul that measuring is simple at the worlds, to quote Rick "Measurement is simple ... as a manufacturers cl...
