Re: Lowers Adjusters - should the rule be changed?

I think we should stop the blue wave being used and write the rule to say no on water adjustment of any standing rigging. Tolerating the blue wave adjuster will change/is changing the way the boat is sailed. The boats are supplied with a rack system, which cannot, under any practical circumstances, ...

Re: Proposed New Mainsail

I'm all for the new main - great idea - would bring the boat into line with the updated 49er - It also presents the opportunity to revisit the top mast - the current design is fragile and breaks too often. It's a recurring problem in Australia and detracts from a great overall package. How to implem...

Re: Question on new chain plate by Ovi's

Hi Chris and Paul, Thanks for your replies. The part came in a plastic bag with no instructions. Therefore I don't have any guidelines on what they're supposed to look like, whether I can trim them or how tight they should be. The piece is, however, fairly self explanatory. It comes assembled and th...

Re: Question on new chain plate by Ovi's

Hi Paul, I've got the new style bar with nylocks from Ovi's via Richard Ekberg and the older style gunwhale with no flattened area under the chain plates. The kit goes together fine but the bolts protrude around 20mm below the black bar. The bolts aren't threaded the whole shaft length and have a sh...

C 7.2 Question on new chain plate by Ovi's

Hi Guys, Fitted my new chain plates to my boat today - there is around 20mm thread showing below the nut on the underside of the gunwale when tensioned - my first thought was to cut it off as I'm sure others will do so without thinking to ask if its ok to do so or not - Can the excess be trimmed? I ...

Re: Who can win a title?

Hi All - My experience is a system where - - International titles, ie Worlds, Pacific or European can be won by any nationality - National Titles can only be won by a boat registered in the country in which the regatta's being sailed - if an international competitor competes in a National Title, the...

Dropping the main and making it safely through a shore break

Hi Everybody, Some have suggested I share my technique for coming home through a shore break. I've moved recently to the northern most club on Port Phillip. When the sea breeze is up, the waves mount up quickly creating a sharp, dumping shore break on a bar just off the beach. The club has no protec...

Re: Wire to wire tacking

Hi Tristan, Marcus and I go forward - actually everybody I know except Jono Neate - he goes through backwards. All contender sailors roll through backwards tacking. Most of us started tacking the musto the same way and gave up because it's easier facing forward and you don't have the issue clearing ...
