Musto Performance Skiff

Musto Performance Skiff e-Newsletter
Welcome to the December issue of the Musto Skiff newsletter. Now that winter has arrived I have heard that a number of Skiff sailors have decided that the sensible option is to pack the boat away for a couple of months and keep warm. On the other hand, there are a number of us that continue to brave the cold weather to get our weekly Skiff fix on the water.

The plans for the Gold Cup in Denia in 2005 are coming together and details can be found in this newsletter about the trailers taking boats out to Spain and the flights to and from the event for the sailors and supporters. Pablo and the team at the sailing club in Denia are working hard to make sure the event is a huge success and I am looking forward to sailing in warmer conditions again.

You may have seen Simon Hiscocks' diary of the Gold Cup week at Lake Garda in Yachts and Yachting recently. We are grateful to Simon for letting us have his uncut version for this newsletter. It was great to have Simon sailing with us in Italy, will he decide to make the trip to Spain in 2005?

Have a great Christmas and good luck to all those sailing at events over the holiday period.

See you on the water. Paul Clarke GBR 176 - It's Not A Van!

Simon Hiscocks diary from the Musto Skiff Gold Cup

Double Olympic 49er medallist Simon Hiscocks recently joint the Musto Skiff fleet to compete in the Gold Cup at Lake Garda as part of his post Olympic relaxation. During the event he maintained a diary of his experiences which were recently published in the UK sailing magazine Yachts and Yachting (the magazine also featured a "how to tack wire-to-wire article using a photo sequence of Sten). For those of you who missed the magazine here is the article, for those of you who did read it - here is the unedited version. Read the diary >>>

2005 Fixture List Finalised

After a much discussion over the feedback from the on-line survey the 2005 Fixture list has been agreed and published.

The general consensus was to run fewer high quality events so as not to "spread ourselves too thin". This has meant that we have declined the offer of some clubs to runs MPS Opens -sorry. But the events we do have should all be well supported.

The highlight of the year will of course be the Gold Cup at Denia. The Europeans will be combined with the UK Nationals so we hope to see even more overseas visitors in 2005. This event is combined with the B14's and the fist half of the week will be the 29er/49er UK Nationals so you have the option of the MPS training camp or borrowing a boat and doing two championships in a week!!!
